Radix Weekly
Previously: the Eagle-Ray patch restored network liveness on 11 September, but the compensation debate raged on and the community assessed ecosystem casualties from the Weft Finance exploit.
A week of existential soul-searching mixed with real governance progress. The community digested the official incident report on the August exploit, clashed over whether to pivot strategy entirely, and saw the TC for Ratification vote go live — a genuine milestone in the DAO transition. Post-exploit infrastructure is slowly coming back online.
Funded restart vs incremental integration
Wim proposed abandoning the Xi'an roadmap for a fully VC-funded restart built around Hyperscale, calling the current path a slow bleed. James Sinkem and Seböööl pushed back, saying any restart needs hundreds of millions in confirmed funding first.
Does open-source Hyperscale undermine Radix?
Vlad B argued that forkability means large adopters like Cloudflare have no reason to use the Radix network or buy XRD. 合lex countered that worrying about monetization before delivering the product is backwards.
Official incident report published
The Radix Telegram account published a detailed incident report covering the 31 August vault-authorisation vulnerability, its impact, containment, and security improvements. LINUXX.xrd expressed anger that RDX Works did not respond, but committed to vote on the DAO proposal anyway.
DAO formation and TC ratification vote live
projectShift announced DAO formation is now rolling and in MIDAO's hands, with the TC for Ratification vote now open. Daffy shared the voting link. The vote marks a concrete step forward in the community-led transition.
Post-exploit infrastructure recovery
Timan reported the Hyperlane bridge is still offline with coordination underway to restore it. CEX deposits and withdrawals remain suspended across multiple exchanges. Vlad B urged users to unstake from the apparently abandoned Weft validator node, which Timan called premature.
- GENKIPOOL suggested applying to the Mastercard Crypto Partner Programme for fiat onboarding and regulatory visibility, though Vlad B noted the DAO needs proper email addresses and organised representa
- Vlad B reported Foton NFT marketplace is still being worked on, with Rares fixing smart-contract edge cases.
- Timan clarified Hyperlane warp route ownership: validators operated by Hyperlane, h-asset contracts controlled by a Foundation multisig, Reddicks by Gary, and the ASTRL route by Timan himself.
- Daniel Offchain London suggested holding community events until a more favourable market next year, noting current conditions are poor.
Confirmed the network is safe to use post-restoration with no rollback, shared the RAC weekly update, and announced the TC for Ratification vote is now live.
Clarified that flightofthefox will develop Hyperscale and help integrate it unpaid and unbound, while the community focuses on adoption and DAO governance.
Denied heavy moderation of his channel, guessed RDX Works liquidation depends on real-world liabilities, and noted there is no Xi'an development — his hyperscale-rs work is the closest thing and does not follow Dan's original designs.
Confirmed that Rares, the developer working on Foton smart contracts, is real — joking he looked like a broken man even during Radix's consensus heyday.
Sir Drape Yird said there is no Xi'an development; the closest thing is flightofthefox's hyperscale-rs work, which is not following Dan's original designs.
The mood: Battered but still building — the community is wrestling with existential questions about Radix's value proposition while quietly pushing governance forward.
